WELCOME TO JONES BLOG!

WORDS that are spoken, should provide 2 options - LIFE or DEATH!

There is so much power in words, when used appropriately. A depressed soul can be uplifted by a smooth tone of phrases, when all else fails. A crying child will become silent once an expression of adoration is spoken directly. Even when placed with a distinctive tune, hearts are moved to a compassionate mode. It has been said that music 'soothes the savage beast.' In addition, when you smile, or even laugh, the very innate qualities are rejuvenated, and extends to others, uplifting them to pursue life in its truest form.

I will be discussing many topics that appear to be imperative for today's way of thinking. With eloquent words, feelings of joy, love, peace, and contentment can be transferred. It is imperative to make sure we speak with what will cause one to walk away with an amazing outlook of assurance, knowing that things CAN, AND WILL work out!

They Showed Me How: Women’s History Month (March)

inspirationalwomen

History: Teaching Events or Experience of former times!

Even though yesterday was the last day of March, to be honest, I normally don’t wait until a particular month to show appreciation to a significant individual.  However, in celebration of Women’s History Month, it would be nice to remember, and pay homage to those individuals who helped motivate me in life.

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Messiah, and that He had spoken these things unto her. (John 20:18)

grannywhiteoutfitOther than my mother, or grandmother (pictured, left) there are those women who have provided such truth and insight.  It’s been, and continues to be, an amazing learning experience for me.

Speaking of the women who have projected true experiences for us to be motivated by, there is, for instance, Mary, who was chosen to become an instrumental being, the virgin to conceive the Messiah.  One day while visiting Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist at the time, during her old age, the Holy Spirit made the baby in Elizabeth leap inside the womb with joy.  In a loud voice she exclaimed to Mary: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!”

Another female, who was considered to be, biblically speaking, a harlot, or what people today define, a prostitute, yet Mary Magdalene was shown the Father’s amazing forgiveness, compassion, and the opportunity to change into the image ordained for her to walk in, revealing a better way to live.  In addition, she was given a ministering-prolific Word, bearing witness that the Messiah indeed rose from the dead, just like He told the disciples He would, the same brothers who walked and learned under His tutelage.  What an amazing testimony for a woman to proclaim!

Anyway, I want to spotlight the following, some of the most magnificent women, who with the Father’s help, reminded me personally, and constantly, of why I was created.  The purpose confirmed through the Holy Spirit, to be His witness, everywhere I am.  In the midst of trials or sufferings, He shined His Light on them. They, in turn, shared their wisdom, teaching me how to become that virtuous, humble woman, showing me it’s okay to be me in Him.

Who has been your inspiration?  If the question was brought to your attention, who would you say gave the motivation to become that woman you are destined to be?

Sis. Hattie Harris:

My ninth grade year showed signs of unsure feelings.  It was going to be my first time attending high school.  A dark-brown teenaged girl from NYC, who already experienced being the brunt of Southern conversation as the weird one with the proper-speaking dialect, it was difficult to figure out my purpose.

In comes Ms. Harris, the one teacher many students gossiped about as the “mean one,” but I’ve always loved having an educator with intensity, so I welcomed becoming one of the students in her infamous English class.  She recognized our potential at first glance, and did not hesitate to pull out of us what was expected.

While being an introvert, I had a conspicuous passion for poetry and theater, as well as music; notwithstanding, Ms. Harris, upon reading some of my work, expressed great delight.  She, in turn, encouraged me to continue providing heartfelt compositions.  She even showed it to other teachers, who were instrumental in provoking me to pursuing penned greatness, with an esteemed purpose to make others smile.  Thank you, Ms. Harris, for being “that teacher” for me, at the right time!  You have continued to be that beacon, and I speak of you often, to this day, to my own children, who are wise inspirations themselves, with words to share, passing the faith along!

Mrs. Barbara V. Evers:

An incredible educator sent by the Father, used to point out the obvious knowledge and writing ability already placed inside of me, Ms. Evers was the perfect tutor of excellence.

She was noted as one who recognized, though I assumed it was over for me, as far as writing, or speaking to groups of people of various origins.  Such a blessed woman of God, with limitless fortitude, inspiring everyone with her expertise, to pursue greatness, no matter what the predicament.

Like her website states,

It doesn't take long for people who meet Barbara Evers to recognize her talents in written and verbal communication.  Tapping into this strength, Barbara has found success in many facets of her life...but the path wasn't always easy. Her mission, now, is to help others do the same professionally, personally, and/or spiritually, through:

  • EvertrainCorporate Training and Personal Development
  • Everspeak: Motivational and Inspirational Speaking
  • Everwrite:  Writing, Editing, and Proofreading Services

I am so elated that the Father saw fit to allow our paths to cross, further instilling the motivation for me to see what He’s shown others through the years, and get finally the point!  Thank you, Mrs. Evers, for being that “spiritual light” of reflection that I needed.

katiejordan

Min. Katie L. Jordan:

Min. Katie Jordan has always walked victoriously, showing us just what a virtuous woman is noted for.  When I was first given the opportunity to sing with QSYA Choir, it was imperative that I actually pay close attention to how the Father used them, under her direction.  Not just an ordinary “church choir,” but a Holy-Ghost-filled ministry!

Min. Jordan, a musician, vocal leader, prayer warrior, and evangelist, has always been ready for the task at hand, following the leading of the Holy Spirit!  She was, and still is gifted to preach, or sing, the ‘good news” of God’s Word, with power and authority.

Every time we received an invitation to attend an event, whether a gospel concert, anniversary program, revival meeting, as guest evangelist, the power of the Most High would move so awesomely, the most popular person would have to take a back seat to the cloud of the Holy Spirit flowing through the building!

Songs like Walter Hawkins’ “God Is Standing By,” the late Dr. Charles Hayes and Cosmopolitan Choir’s “Jesus Can Work It Out,” even The Williams Brothers’ “If You Move, I’ll Fall” are some of her signatures.  Back in the day, it was more about conveying encouragement, or inspiration, knowing that the time is at hand, and we must “be ready when He comes again.”  Show them how it’s really done, Min. Katie!

sisjuanitaburnsidecombo

Sis. Juanita Burnside:

Always taking advantage of the words of the older, yet wiser individuals, it was a time of the need for reflection and clarity for me.  The Father was revealing many things through the Holy Spirit, so much that I truly prayed to Him to confirm what He was showing.  Sis. Burnside noticed me years ago, during the 80s, and would just watch me from afar, as I made conscious, and unconscious mistakes, but still saw the me inside.

Years later, the both of us ended up being sent to the same church congregation, not to join, but to follow the leading of the Father’s move.  One day, I was given the opportunity to speak for an event, and received vivid words to share.  Sis. Burnside, right away, emphatically admonished that “flesh and blood did not reveal” what was spoken, but the Holy Spirit was shown, heard, and felt, through the words.

Sis. Burnside then became a highly-anointed, extended mother figure to me.  A spiritual confidante whom the Father provided, used to confirm the revelations of His mighty moves.  She let me know that I wasn’t crazy after all, that the mistakes I made in my life, were only going to become testimonies for those who feel they are insignificant creatures.  The Father’s voice can really be heard, through His Spirit, and there is absolutely nothing He cannot do, but fail.  We just have to be obedient to His Will, as well as His Word, and HE WILL show us great and mighty things that we don’t know!

I was told we were related, and hearing her say that made me gratified at that fact.  Unfortunately, when she transitioned, I was left with such a great loss that could not be imagined.  She never shared with me that she had a health issue, but always tried to be an encouraging party.  Strong like no one else, Sis. Burnside did not play, or accept being played with.  She stood firm on what the Father said, and would tell you to your face when you’re traveling down the wrong road, stopping you in your tracks.

If I learned anything from her life, it is that the Father has called many to do His bidding, whatever that may be.  And we must be ready, willing, and able, to act on His command, showing love and holy boldness.  The seeds planted through Sis. Juanita Burnside’s walk in the Father truly shows signs of growing strong in Him, just like she prayed and put into action.

Min. Rejoice Dupree:

This woman of God truly personified what ministry exuded during her fulfilled life.  The initial moment of coming in contact with her, was during a special women’s conference.  Min. Rejoice was a guest soloist.  Upon the worship experience she provided, I witnessed that ministry the Father revealed to me during my childhood days.  I was in awe of how HE was using her, captivated by her unwavering obedience, her ability to sensitively hear through the Spirit.  While singing, she would walk through the congregation, touching the individuals as she was led, sometimes giving each person an inspirational momentum.

After a few years, we ended up on the same program, both guest soloists.  Once I finished the song I was instructed to minister, Rejoice approached me before I could sit down, speaking the words the Father gave her to pass on to me.  It was phenomenal how the Father showed me to her, the commission He gave to her for me.  I was astonished, but thankful at the same time!

Min. Rejoice continued throughout the years to keep our communication door open, and was one of the first to purchase our CD from me, after listening to the song “Chosen” over the phone.  She stated how she became very emotional, praising the Father for how He gave the words to the composer, the musical flow, vocal presence, etc.  Such an absolutely motivational woman of virtue!

She is no longer with us in flesh, after transitioning last year, and my heart is still at a loss.  I truly miss her so much, there are times where I have a sense of sadness appear out of nowhere. Nevertheless, I’m thankful for the many memories I have of her determination, compassionate nature, and willingness to make sure every person knows they are loved by our Heavenly Father!

September is GOSPEL MUSIC HERITAGE MONTH!!!

What is HERITAGE?

The very word denotes "birthright, tradition, or legacy," which reminds us that we should never forget how we should represent how far we've come, and who came before us.  So many soldiers who walked, struggled, and overcame obstacles to spread the gospel in song.

We know that "Gospel" refers to spreading the good news of Yeshua/Jesus Christ's message of our Heavenly Father.  It also provides true testament of how others came through trials, moments of despair, being unsure as to why we are even here on earth, and WHO has the ability to bring us out of EVERY situation.

In June 2008, Congress recognized September as GOSPEL MUSIC HERITAGE MONTH, observing in its legislation that the message, rhythms, and melodies of Gospel Music "can be traced to multiple and diverse influences, as well as foundations, including African-American spiritual."
Fisk University Jubilee Singers
As far back as I can remember, gospel music has always played a major, vital part in my life, posing as a natural fabric of my being.  I am so thankful to the Father for allowing me to have parents, and even grand-parents, who had the desire to instill great feelings of appreciation for how the Sovereign I AM has kept us, in spite of where, or how we've gone through experiences.

Music, of a sincere heart, does "sooth the savage beast," and in EVERY situation, there is a song that exists to help us to continue believing that all things do work together for the good, that we are destined, and WILL make it!

All month, I will be reminiscing gospel music at its finest, and trust you will be enlightened, inspired, or even informed with treasured tidbits you were not aware of.

Blessings and peace always, everyone!

Apostle Rejoice Marie Dupree: We Will Miss You!

Apostle Rejoice Marie Dupree
 March 26, 1949 - July 26, 2013

While glazing over all of my Facebook friends' pages,  sadly, someone has moved on to another level in life.

Apostle Rejoice Marie Dupree transitioned Friday, July 26, 2013.

It's interesting how The Father will place us in the most unexpected areas, while placing His most gifted individuals on our path, revealing who we are, and showing us why we are even here.

During the year 1997, I was invited to sing at a winter holiday event in SC.  After vocalizing "Oh Holy Night," I was approached by a very astute, and highly anointed lady, who provided such prolific words, through the Holy Spirit.  The words were so in tune with what The Father had been speaking to me, all I could do was cry, and give exhilarating praises to The Most High, for how He was using this truly amazing woman!  She didn't know me from Adam, but she portrayed an honored vessel, and meat for the Master's  use!
"Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses!" (2 Corinthians 13:1)
The Father continued to move through her, reminding me of what He's been getting His  children ready for, how He's filling us with His presence, for such a time as this.  The minister  was so clear as to what I needed to know, blessing me confidently.  She was then led by the Father to lay hands on several others in the service, through singing, exhorting, encouraging, and supernatural healing, WITH POWER from ON HIGH!
After the service, we exchanged phone numbers, and began having many conversations, regarding The Father's thorough and pure, unadulterated Word, becoming life, right before our very eyes.  Our chats also included how we were constantly claiming victory over the lives of our own children, and how they would be used to the Glory of The Father, in every facet, every experience, every door they would enter, and every person they would come in contact with.  Whether in school, college, work, even church attendance, they would all be kept in Our Father's victorious care, while they flow in His directions.

Suddenly, and without notice, Rejoice moved to another state, and we lost contact for a few years.  Yet I continued to remember what The Father told us during those destined conversations, making sure we remained receptive to His orders.

Min. Dupree was like an older, yet wiser, sister to me.  She was someone who knew the voice of The Father, flowing under the power of the Most High in so many ways.

Quite an amazing singer, she was gifted to touch people from different walks of life, as the Holy Spirit guided her, through small presents she would dispense, or blessing by laying hands on each one, in Jesus' name, touching those who feel there is no one who cares, or the lost, forgotten, depressed, etc., through the power of anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The testimony of her life was always so thought-provoking, and "real."  A native of Houston, TX, raised by a devout mother and grandmother, Min. Dupree later matured in the neighborhoods of northeast Washington, D.C., where the dangers of inner city life would eventually force her to re-evaluate her own decisions, which ultimately meant giving up a promising rock and roll career.

During one of her interviews, she shared how she was on the verge of signing a recording contract with a major label
"When you're in serious trouble, there are only two people you can call for help: Momma and God, and Momma couldn't help me!  There were those who had it in for me, and God closed the door!  I surrendered to Him, and made a promise that I would get right, if HE would get me out of it!  He did, and I have kept my word!  I've been running for the Lord ever since!  The Lord re-directed my path, and I knew then that I couldn't sign that contract!"
Her re-connection to the church, which included her salvation as a born-again Christian at the age of 30, and a Pentecostal minister since 1985, became a permanent condition.  Instead of walking on that dismal road, she "got busy" in the church.  Her transformation from a rock-and-roller, traveling with the wrong crowd, to the caterer of the "Hugs of Love and Big Heart Ministries," which she founded in 1993, while serving parishes in Michigan and South Carolina.  She was provided opportunities to travel the country, preaching and singing her way to the Kingdom of Our Heavenly Father.  Music, throughout Rejoice's life, as well as gift-giving, remained a central part of her "hugs-and-heart" ministry.

Oddly enough, once I moved back north in 2000, somehow, as The Father would have it, we reconnected again!  What an awesome blessing!  Rejoice had moved to Virginia Beach in 1997 to broaden her ministry, which helped her gain momentum that same year, when she won first place in the solo division of a national gospel music convention.  She was the first African-American woman to do so, in the convention's 40-year history!

After requesting to listen over the phone, Rejoice was one of the first to purchase from me a copy of Larry McCullough and Chosen Generation's "HE LIFTED ME" CD.  Reason being that I was listed as a leader of one of the listed songs, "Chosen," composed by Larry himself.  I remember her tearfully telling me how she was so blessed, both by words and melody.  Such a true testament of what constitutes a real friend.

The last time we spoke, she had moved back to SC, and we asked each other how different elements were taking place in our lives.  No matter how often, whether we conversed or not, I always thought of her as my extended older, yet wiser sibling, who knew she had a consistent right relationship with The Father, keeping her ears open to His voice at all times, for clear and concise directions, while here on earth.

A glowing beacon of Light, sitting in darkness, Apostle Rejoice Dupree never had a problem sharing the Love, Goodness, Passion, or Forgiveness that The Father instills in His children.  I will miss her deeply, but I know that everything that her chosen journey took her through, she will hear the Father say, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Come on, home!"

I'm also praying that her two wonderful children, whom she always adored and spoke of dearly, will continue to keep that perfect peace of our Heavenly Father, draped around them, as it resonates throughout their lives, as well as the family and loved ones.

Apostle Rejoice, the name speaks for itself, and WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.  Rest in Peace, and the Power of the Most High!

My Remembering MR. CLARENCE BURKE, JR., of The Five Stairsteps

Clarence Newton Burke, Jr.
1949 - 2013

One of the most gifted music artists in the country transitioned Sunday morning, the day after his 64th birthday.  Clarence Burke, Jr. projected such amazing propensity for melodic and poetic creativity.

Clarence Jr., (back center) with Dennis (left), Kenneth (front center), & James (right)
Being reminded of fond moments, during my childhood days of the 1960s, in the music world, there was a plethora of various doo-wop and harmonious singing groups, whether all-girl or male, providing sounds of love and romance, or fun in the sun.  Being a church baby myself, I was also kept abreast of who the best artists were, and their creativity, helping to enhance their quality.

In 1965, a family from Chicago, Illinois, formed a group of extremely talented youth.  The Five Stairsteps, the children of Clarence, Sr. and Betty Burke, showed incredible flair at early ages.  Ultimately considered the "First Family of Soul," they entered a local contest, winning first prize.  When asked why the group was named specifically, their mother, Betty, insinuated that her children, when standing together in a line,  resembled a visual staircase.

Many offers came flooding through to them from different directions.  Fred Cash, member of singing trio, The Impressions, caught their performance, and made mention of their awesomely mature showmanship to Curtis Mayfield, who was immediately introduced to them.  The youthful quintet, consisting of oldest sister Alohe, brothers Clarence Jr., James, Dennis, and Kenneth ("Keni"), who were signed to Mr. Mayfield's company, Windy City Records, in 1966.

The Five Stairsteps - clockwise - Sister Alohe, brothers James, Kenneth, Dennis, and Clarence Jr., center
From the beginning, even though he was a teenager, Clarence Jr., along with his father, collaborated with Gregory Fowler, penning the majority of the Stairsteps' tunes.

Growing up in Manhattan, I was 8-years-old at the time, remembering my dad coming home from work, mentioning there was a new group of siblings, that the record store was blasting their premiere single, and he decided to surprise me with a copy.  The soft ballad, "You Waited Too Long," with the B-side being "Don't Waste Your Time," an upbeat number, was extraordinary!  Needless to say, I fell in love with the 45 rpm record, flipping it over and over, playing it, wearing it out!

In 1966, I was able to watch them do their thing in person, on stage at the Apollo Theater, and boy, they were absolutely incredible

Below is a video of The Five Stairsteps being showcased on a Virginia variety show, with Clarence Jr. leading their first release, You Waited Too Long:

Early 1967, their first album, "The Five Stairsteps," proved to reveal their magnificence, in many ways.  Filled with several titles, with a romantic flair, tunes like "Come Back," "Danger, She's A Stranger," as well as other monumental favorites, such as "World of Fantasy" and Smokey Robinson's "Ooh, Baby Baby," put them on the map, especially in the Northeast.  Even Clarence's lead vocal delivery was so unbelievable, you'd forget he was only 17!

I was fortunate to see them at the Apollo again, during the early part of the year.  I just loved watching them, as they kept me mesmerized, with their harmony, style, and words of loving emotion.

The Five Stairsteps and Cubie (top)
By the time I heard their hit, "Something's Missing," a mere shifting had taken place in their music style, as well as including an additional member of their family, little brother Cubie, who was only 1 1/2 years of age, and so adorable.

This time at the Apollo, even though it would be my last opportunity to see them live on stage, that performance made an incredible impression that  was thoroughly epic to me, for many years to come!

The guys were playing instruments with excellence - Clarence Jr. playing guitar, leading songs with so much power, and Kenneth working that bass like he was born with it in his hand!  There was more impeccable choreographic movement, and they continued to dazzle us, right before our eyes.

I was totally fascinated with their rendition of "A Million To One," and the showstopper, "Don't Change Your Love," was so captivating, actually seeing them glide, kick, dip, pop!  JUMP BACK!!!

Still continuing to record with Curtis Mayfield's company, the label changed to Buddah, and their album, "Family Portrait," was one of their awe-inspired masterpieces, given the fact they received more autonomy, including the whole family, with Mom and Papa Burke lending their voices in the studio.

My life took on a somewhat strange turn, when my family ended up moving to the South, where my conversation of being in the presence of greatness, did not seem to transfer to Greenvillians.  The kids there were not familiar with the great Stairsteps.  In school there, I would play a few of their songs, assured minds would be triggered, yet everyone would just stare and shake their heads.

What an awkward, depressing time for me.  My dad would mention how the group appeared at the Apollo, during 1969, on the same lineup as The Jackson 5, and I truly hated missing that particular night.

But, lo and behold, - 1970!  "OOH, OOH, CHILD" - on the SC radio stations, and I heard that name of the illustrious group!  For a brief moment, I finally had something to smile about again!  That tune was played on every station in the country, placing The Five Stairsteps on a new stratosphere, and I so appreciated every time I encountered it!

Another fantastic moment for me, I nearly screamed when Clarence Jr. and the group appeared on Soul Train!  Wow, what a difference two years can make!  I was extremely elated, seeing them again, and recall mentioning to as many mortals that I came in contact with, how I had the opportunity to see them on stage live during their early years, while being surprised that they were finally receiving worldwide recognition.

Years moved along, and I constantly wondered where they were, and of course, the internet wasn't in existence during that time.  It wasn't until I was in New York City again, that one day, while taking the subway train home from high school, I overheard "From Us To You" over the intercom, thinking the vocals sounded somewhat familiar to my ears.

Surprisingly enough, it was The Stairsteps!!!
As The Invisible Man's Band -
Dennis, James (back), Keni and Clarence Jr.
I immediately found myself going out to search for their 1976 album release on Dark Horse Records, "2nd Resurrection," and wore the biggest smile on my face!  All four of the brothers had original material they contributed, along with their superb musicianship, and production savvy.  And their tune "Pasado" reached deep down, waking up that Salsa-like, rhythmic music savor.   What an immensely delectable treat!

Upon later trying to make some drastic changes in my life, I didn't allow myself to purchase any secular music for several years, hence was not aware of The Stairsteps disbanding, or the newly created Invisible Man's Band.  But any time I would be shopping, as popular tunes were used as entertainment, I would hear their dance jam, "All Night Long," a combined  flavor of old and more current bravado groove.

Such simpler times those years were, and if it hadn't been for that period of music, we kids who are now aged adults, would not have learned to be as ad versed, with a great appreciation for supreme artistry.  Actually visualizing The Five Stairsteps, a bona fide entity, creatively self-contained in every area.  However, Clarence Burke, Jr. will be truly missed.  He exemplified what being an esteemed music artist is all about, in that his sense of individualism, ingenuity, compassion in his lyrical content, as well as his humbleness of heart, continued to shine brightly throughout his life.

The video below remains absolute, revealing the brilliance of Mr. Clarence Newton Burke, Jr. that will forever be impressed on our minds.  Love to you always, and Rest Peacefully!

A Real Gospel Legend Has Gone Away...

Saturday, July 24, 2010 11:53 PM

Bishop Walter L. Hawkins
(May 18, 1949 — July 11, 2010)

As I was viewing some of my online pages yesterday, there was a message that stated that a person with a huge household name had transitioned. This singer-songwriter-pastor-choir director has supplied so many beautiful, prolific songs for decades. Most of the songs are performed or ministered all over the world by different races, cultures, classes.

Bishop Walter Hawkins was first heard with his older brother Edwin, after the Grammy-nominated song, "OH HAPPY DAY" was recorded, and toured with the Edwin Hawkins Singers. In 1972, he was given the opportunity of recording a solo album, "Do Your Best." But in 1975, the album that really provided true recognition for Walter was "Love Alive," which included his church choir, Love Center, from the church he established, and his then-wife, Tramaine Davis Hawkins. They performed live songs, such as "Follow Me," "Changed," "God Is Standing By," "Goin' Up Yonder" and "I'm Not The Same." It was the beginning of great things to come for the minister of music. In 1977, "Jesus Christ Is The Way" was recorded in studio, which Walter wrote the title song, along with all the others, including "I Need Your Spirit" and "He Brought Me."

God continued to bless him in 1978 with the making of "Love Alive II." Songs that were included on this great recording were, "Never Alone," "He's That Kind of Friend," "Be Grateful" and "I'm Goin' Away." What an amazingly, well-done God experience. As the years came, God showered Walter Hawkins with a plethora of musical masterpieces, that really would take you to higher heights, and deeper depths. "Special Gift," "Full And Complete," "Thank You" and so many more, up to songs from "Love Alive's 25th Anniversary" recording, became inspirational theme songs for any choir that wanted to minister real testimonials.

I have always loved Bishop Hawkins work, and have very fond memories, singing different titles from his repertoire with several choirs. I recall hearing "He's That Kind of Friend," being sung by one particular choir that I was able to minister with in 1979. The lead vocalist was so amazing, and I experienced a true spiritual awakening before the song was over! Even today, when I think or listen to the albums, cassettes or CD's, the mere astonishment floods my soul just as if they were just released yesterday.

He was such an amazing, anointed man of God, both in music and word, and I will never forget him. He is a pure, legendary figure, and his God-given catalog will live on and continue to bless everyone.

This amazing man left this world after a long 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bishop, you will be missed terribly, but we know that you are "goin' to a place" where there will be no more crying, no more dying, no more pain or suffering. Only joy, peace, happiness and love! 'Goin' Away,' to a place, prepared just for you; a special place, you'll live eternally!

Rest now, my brother!
